The BUNNYGRAPH STUDIO was founded in 1937 by Walter A. Heinsen (1899-1984) in Chicago, Illinois.  Trained as an aerial observer in the Imperial German Air Forces of World War I, Heinsen immigrated to the United States in 1924 where he opened his first photography studio in 1928.

By the late 1930's Heinsen focused on child portrait photography and with his patented Bunnygraph Camera, quickly became a family tradition to generations of Chicagoans with four studios in Chicago and one in Dallas, Texas.

Walter Heinsen retired in 1970, soon after the birth of his grandson, John David (Bonham) Heinsen.  The Bunnygraph Studio closed soon after.
